Rated “T” for “Teen”

Fifteen-year-old Hime Kino dreams of becoming a voice actor, just like her hero, voice-acting legend Sakura Aoyama, the former star of the anime, Magic Warriors: Lovely ♥ Blazers.  Hime is accepted into the “Voice Acting Department” at Holly Academy High School, where she hopes to learn how to be a voice actress with the cute voice known as “the princess type.”  However, Hime’s gruff voice earns her the nickname, “Gorilla Princess,” but she isn’t about to give up.

As Voice Over! Seiyu Academy, Vol. 10 (Chapters 54 to 58) opens, Hime is living a double life.  First, she is Hime a/k/a “Gorilla Princess,” a student at Holly Academy.  However, she is also a teen boy named “Shiro.”  As Shiro, Hime has a voice-acting role in the hot new anime series, Cruel Octalia.

“Shiro” has also captured the imagination of Senri Kudo, the voice actor idol and son of Sakura Aoyama.  Always on the lookout to do something for his dear new friend, Senri likes to cook omelet rice for “Shiro.”  However, Hime has come to believe that if “Shiro” is going to get better as an actor, then “he” should stop visiting Senri, which actually makes things more confused and complicated.

[This volume contains bonus manga.]

THE LOWDOWN:  I was not sure that I would have a long-term interest in the Voice Over! Seiyu Academy manga.  This is something I usually admit in my reviews of this series.  Since I read Vol. 7, the volume that piqued my interest in the series, I have been enjoying this manga.

Voice Over! Seiyu Academy Volume 10 is no exception.  I found this story of confused teen love, with a side of cross-dressing-for-disguise, thoroughly enjoyable.  I can tell that series creator Maki Minami really likes Senri Kudo.  The character is more than just the snotty acting royalty that he seemed at first glance.  First impressions are not always right.  Voice Over! Seiyu Academy is now another high school shojo romance that has captured this reader's heart.

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  Fans of high school shojo manga will want to try the Shojo Beat title, Voice Over! Seiyu Academy.

Rating: A- /10
