Most X-Fans know of Claremonts classic story God Loves, Man Kills. Hey, they based X-Men 2 on it. Well, as a kind of homage Claremont decided to write a sequel within his X-treme X-Men book.

I have to say for the most part Claremont gives us perfect character focused dialogue. I always feel he gets Sage spot on, and you can see the detective way of thinking with Bishop. He's not perfect (Sam sometimes comes off limp and monotonous) but I don't get why some people loath him. We've been given a pretty interesting story so far and there are lots of questions that are waiting to be answered. Like, what or who is affecting Sage, Lady Deathstrike, Storm and all the kids? Who is this mysterious Reverend Paul? What is wrong with Kitty and what are Strykers motives? This is all intriguing and has been put together in a solid way.

Mostly the art is really good. I really like Kordy's Sage with her cute as hell smile. In places though in this issue his work does look a little rushed (like his New X-Men issues) and flat. This isn't the whole book though, jus some panels, so it's not too bad.The colouring of the book has always been nicely done. It's not overly bright nor is it too dark, the hues are calming. It kind of reminds you of autumn.

Is this as good as the original, well we can only truly judge when it is complete. It has had its action, intrigue and there is a message waiting to come out. So next month we'll see, if this can stand shoulder to shoulder with its predecessor or if it'll be a pale comparison. It's been interesting so far, so let's see!
