Justice league Elite #9

One faction of the Elite team enter the Sourcewall where a strange new villainess named Eve emerges, to grant Manchester Black incredible powers. Meanwhle the rest of the team are scattered in various dimensions or on Earth. Considering the huge and varied cast, the different settings, the sudden change in situations, you'd think Kelly would try to keep the confusion to a minimum. He doesn't. There may be some great action sequences, snappy characterization and inventive concepts but a lot of it doesn't come off well since it is so hard to tell what is going on. One member of the Elite actually died in the last issue but the loss just doesn't come through. The scenes with Al-Sheikh also have a forced, unconvincing tone about them as though we are suppose to accept this character as some new Amanda Waller who talks down to superhumans. It doesn't work, no matter how many arrogant remarks he makes about the Justice League. The art is the saving grace, making all the characters look different but also keeping them looking impressive.
