The Black Panther meets Coming To America has he heads for the United States in search of the perfect wife. He hires Power Man along the way to serve as his escort. Will he find the treasured woman who will be his next wife?

I must admit that I am confused with the Black Panther’s continuity here and Hudlin doesn’t make it easy for fans. I thought the Panther was already married to the very lady his proposing to in this issue. Much of the series has been retroactively rewritten, and that can confuse older readers, while giving a fresh and exciting spin for new readers. The pairing of Storm and the Black Panther which is hinted at is forced, and although I know Marvel will go through with it, it will not benefit any of the two characters. Both are better off without one another.

I like how Eaton makes the different black characters look different. Luke Cage - Power Man is the big bouncer type, while the Black Panther looks like a Wall Street business man. Klaus Janson gives a textured feel to the artwork that at least manages to keep it consistent with the earlier run of the book. I don’t know where the Black Panther is headed. I think the massive Marvel crossover destroyed the book’s rhythm. Let’s hope the creative team can salvage something out of this.
