Black Panther #6
By Kevin Scott
August 30, 2005 - 13:30
It’s a rumble in the jungle as the
Wakandan royal family squares off against the
Radioactive Man, and the
Black Panther goes toe-to-toe with his arch-nemesis
Klaw in a battle royale!
The thing that was great about this issue, was the fact that it
Hudlin really made a firm statement of how
Panther rolls. We know he can’t be messed with, regardless of the situation or adversary. And this really makes him a force to be reckoned with.
Hudlin also has left in place a thread that should lead to some real interesting stories. Add to this, the introduction of US zombie stormtroopers, this has been a really good re-vision of the
Black Panther mythoss!
This is
Romita Jr’s last issue, but he doesn’t stop that from turning in some fantastic work and going out with a bang. The issue is packed with action and
Romita takes all of it in his stride, giving the reader a smooth kinetic ride. Another key to this final chapter of the story is emotion.
Hudlin has certain lines that really resonate because
Romita captures the perfect facial expression. And
Andrews really has done a nice job of the cover. Like the last imagine of
Panther (within the interiors), it has a real stoic feel to it.
