THOR #82: "RAGNAROK" pt. 3 (of 4)

Ragnarok appears to have come for the gods of Asgard. And with his allies dropping all around him, will Thor be able to hold back the dreadful onslaught of Loki!?!

Many Norse legends are of epic scale and tell of tales that encompass much joy. To reach this though, you often have to live through the hardest of hardships. We know Oeming (Hammer Of The Gods) is a lover of Nordic myth and you can see it in this Thor story. What we are witnessing, is a tapestry of magnitude. Much has happened: Loki continues his carnage, his hordes and power growing, as Thor's diminish. But has the wind changed, with the dramatic ending and return of an ally? Oeming is telling this tale well, it's just a shame we can't witness every event.

As Oeming weaves his epic tale, Andrea DiVito keeps pace with his pencils. The fit is like a glove, you can see the written and unwritten as if they were stars on a clear night. The story is of woe, loss and adversary and this is etched into the faces of Thor and his companions. Much has been lost, so battles are fought with a ferocity and conviction that can only be brought on by the detachment of suffering and disregard for self. All this and more is offered to us by DiVito and the colouring only helps to bring across the right affect.
