This title is suppose to be set in the continuity of the Justice League cartoon but the stories are closer to the regular DC universe continuity. In this issue, we have at least two heroes, Firestorm and Power Girl, who are not part of the DC animated universe. Oddly, both Supergirl and Power Girl are used in this story which has the younger League members going after the Flash-foe Girder after he has busted out of prison. Why this redundancy of characters? It is hard to say since Power Girl's presence is hardly crucial to the story. They could have substituted Ice or Bwana Beast without making too much of a difference. There is a nice slugfest and a sentimental Christmas message which is rather typical. Not bad but nothing very exciting-- or even very moving. The art however shows a lot of promise. Maybe Barberi is ready to graduate to doing more complex stories for one of the regular DCU titles.
