The Human Flame, the loser supervillain who kicked off the Final Crisis, finds shelter with General Immortus but his bad luck and bad attitude continue to hound him.

The misadventures of the Human Flame continue to amuse. Although he has been upgraded into being a genuine threat, he continues to get no respect, nor does he deserve any. He grumbles, blames others and makes some really stupid decisions. Now, he has been forced to work with a bunch of villains who are also widely seen as losers. And he doesn't get along with them either, even when they are trying to rip off a new military secret. Watching him acting as though he is somehow superior to such small-timers as "Polka-Dot Man" even as others mock him as "Fire Weasel" is worth a lot of chuckles.

This look into the dark and sordid underbelly of the DC universe has been very entertaining, largely because the protagonist is such a self-deluded jerk. There is no attempt to make the audience sympathise or even respect this fool. It is just fight scenes, one-liners and cutting insults-- making this one of the most light-hearted DC comics on the stands (despite the high violence quotient.) It might be inspiring to see ol' nipple-flame actually redeem himself somewhat in the end but for now, it is fun just to see him play the fool.

The highly-detailed and stylised art enhance the story and the character of the Human Flame. The villains may be laughable but they are still dangerous and rather awe-inspiring. The Justice League, who make a guest appearance, also look quite impressive.
