Bane is captured by a villain called Damocles and thrown in a jail where Bruce Wayne is also locked. While Bruce Wayne wants to find out who pulls the strings on Damocles, Bane just wants to escape and kill everyone. Will the two enemies find enough of a truce to escape from their prison?

I like the banter between Bruce Wayne and Bane. There is a lot of unsaid history between the two characters and no usual scheme for Batman to protect his secret identity. In fact, Damocles and the other jailers seem to know who Bruce Wayne is. I was wondering why Chuck Dixon was so carefree with this. Usually when such things happen, all the bad guy die by the end of the story. Bane kills a lot of them already. There is scant information about Damocles in terms of characterization, but I probably should have read the first issue to get some of that.

Graham Nolan is very dynamic here. His work is expressive in the old action adventure comic book way that we don’t see as much these days. While his style looks a bit dated it is exactly how a big brute like Bane needs to be portrayed.
