SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION: Issue #7 (Spring 2007 Edition) of David Noble's magazine Fan Films Quarterly is out now and features an interview with yours truly! Be sure to pick up a copy or two HERE!
Sorry it's been awhile once again My Droogies, but Ol' Fanboy Will has been looking for a new job so you know how that goes. Despite my search for people that will give me weekly checks I have been busy gathering material over the last week and today you get to see the fruits of my labor! At the top of the news today is ME! That's right, your favorite Fanboy was fortunate enough to snag a role in the upcoming Question sequel by Chris Notarile & Blinky Productions! Although it’s not a major roll it's a pretty cool one. got to play an agent from the Checkmate Embassy in which Ted Kord (the Blue Beetle) is being held. We filmed for about four hours and man, it was not easy. Throwing fake punches and receiving them is harder than it looks, thank god Mr. Notarile and crew were patient enough to give me a crash course in getting my ass kicked. The film will be out soon so keep checking back here, our Myspace blog, and Blinky Production's website, for updates. Now, on to the Fan Films!
Lastly today I would like to bring your attention to Con Nooga, an upcoming comic book convention that will be taking place in Chattanooga Tennessee. FBT has decided to become an official sponsor of the con because of its focus on the Fan Film community. The first annual con will feature a Fan Film contest as well as celebrity appearances by Chris Notarile (founder of Blinky Productions) and Niki Notarile (star of CATWOMAN:PRINCIPLES & CATWOMAN:THE DIAMOND EXCHANGE). The convention will take place on February 22nd-24th 2008 at The Chattanooga Choo Choo. Click the above banner for all of the details. WATCHMEN
Fans of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons ground breaking comic book series "The Watchmen" should make it a must to check out this very cool trailer by French Filmmaker Marc Mordelet. The film is done entirely using CGI and features all of your Watchmen faves like Rorschach, The Comedian, and Dr. Manhattan!
Z?
Creator Jhonen Vasquez's most popular character, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, comes to life on the Fan Film screen once again thanks to YouTube member Bjork789 and his fan trailer titled "Z?". The trailer is bloody and disturbing so this one is not for the queasy. Very cool! Hope you can make it into a film one day. Hide your children and watch!
SPIDER-MAN: THE RISE OF VENOM
With the upcoming release of Hollywood's highly anticipated "Spider-Man 3" Spidey has become an increasingly popular subject with Fan Filmmakers. This latest effort by Director Dylan C. Bargas and Rivington Films has Ol' Webhead squaring off against two big time baddies, Venom and Shocker! Make sure to visit the film's official website today to check out a weblog featuring character designs, production updates, and poster concepts for the film.
THE GHOSTBUSTERS CHRONICLES
Currently in pre-production is a new Ghostbusters Fan Film by Jordan Media Entertainment, Silver Valley Productions, and Sketch Productions. The film makers promise that this one is going to be a biggie and may even feature an appearance of a star from the original Ghostbusters motion pictures. Sounds impressive! Can’t wait to check it out! The film is due out Halloween 2007.
ULTIMATE HUSH
This little gem was discovered while perusing YouTube one day. The film is based on the "Hush" storyline which appeared in the Batman comic book series by artist Jim Lee and writer Jeph Loeb. The film features a virtual who's who of characters from Batman's rogue’s gallery such as Bane, The Joker, The Scarecrow, The Riddler, Catwoman and other supporting characters from the Dark Knight's universe. This film looks like it's going to be a more "Adult" oriented project due to the cussin' and violence in the trailer. Since this trailer was posted by a YouTube member I can only give credit to his or her membership name, MisterCrimson. If anyone knows the actual name of the films creators please let me know so I can give credit where it's due.
AQUAMAN
Coming your way from director Chuck Peters & Pure Thought Films comes this Fan Film based on The King of Atlantis himself, Aquaman! In the film Arthur Curry tires of his role as King and sets out on a mission to find himself once again in our world. When the abduction of local children makes the headlines AC has no choice but to take action and Aquaman is back in action! The film looks to be taking a sort of Smallville approach towards the characters since I don't see a costume on AC or Clark Kent, who also appears in the films first trailer. This film is currently in post production.
FRIDAY THE 13TH: MOTHER'S DAY
This Fan Film by Cory Stevens, Vile Entertainment, and The Collective is based on writer Eric Morse's Camp Crystal Lake series, and takes place after the events in the film Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. More reluctant young thrill seekers will soon find out the hard way that everything they heard about Camp Crystal Lake is terrifyingly true. Stop by the official website for several trailers and clips from the upcoming film. The film is due out April 13, 2007.
GHOSTBUSTERS: SPOOK UNIVERSITY
When a recent Ghostbuster intern returns from New York he finds his college plagued by strange supernatural phenomena. With the help of his two best friends a new Ghostbusters team is assembled to eliminate the evil spirits and make their college safe once more. On the way from Director Eddie Lebron and Platinum Cinema is a brand new Ghostbusters Fan Film! "Ghostbusters Generation" will tell the tale of 3 new Ghostbusters, one being Tim Beckett, a close associate of original Ghostbuster Egon Spengler, who has recently left for a trip to LA. Since there has been a lack of any supernatural activity in the NYC area since 1998 the Ghostbusters Franchise has literally been out of business. But when a sudden rash of supernatural sightings rocks the Big Apple - Beckett decides to resurrect the all but dead franchise, with the help of two of his closest friends, and an all new team of Ghostbusters are born!

GOTHAM NIGHTS
On the way from Director Eddie Lebron and WC Films Limited is currently producing the first installment of a Fan Film series that will focus on Gotham City's dark side. Shining a spotlight on the twisted and disturbed, and revamping Batman's greatest foes, this one looks to be mighty interesting indeed. The first installment will focus on the birth of one of Gotham City's greatest criminal masterminds.
GREEN ARROW
Fans of the Emerald Archer have something to look forward to thanks to director Travis Landry and Landry Productions. Mr. Landry is currently producing a Green Arrow Fan Film! In the film there are three new Emerald Archers on the scene, some good, some bad, and there goal is to take down the original GA - Ollie Queen. The film appears to be influenced by the Smallville version of GA judging by the way the characters are dressed. The film will also feature guest spots from Batman and Superman.
JOHNNY
Yet another Fan Film based on Jhonen Vasquez & Slave Labor Graphics most popular psycho killer, Johnny the Homicidal Manaic is directed by Aharon Fernandez and starring Timmothy Mahon.
CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT AND THE SECRET SQUADRON
Golden Age comic book and serial hero of yesteryear (Captain Midnight) is back! This time around Cap and The Squadron are featured in their very own Fan Film thanks to Director Glenn Bain and Core Productions. The film is set during the height of WWII and has Cap taking on a ring of Luftwaffe spies secretly trying to invade the U.S. The film is now complete and will be available on DVD soon free of charge! Hopefully on the way is a new Fan Film featuring Green Lantern John Stewart! The proof is in this nifty trailer I found on comics2film.com (awesome site).
