It seems that not everyone is convinced that Matt Murdock is not Daredevil. Taken into custody for questioning concerning two murders supposedly committed by the costumed hero and reported by a witness, Matt will once again have to fight for his reputation. But this time he has a solid alibi concerning his whereabouts the night of the crime. Just too bad he doesn't want anyone else knowing he spend the night with someone else that his wife... Meanwhile, the revelation that the ninja-assassin Elektra, leader of the Hand, was a Skrull (a shape-shifting alien, long story...) has put the clan in turmoil. Warring factions fight for the now vacant position without thinking that their behavior might endanger the whole organization. Amidst this conflict, the new and mysterious Lady Bullseye is sent to the United States on an errand and start testing the combat ability of various vigilantes such as Iron Fist and the Black Tarantula. Her purpose so far is unknown.

This comic book is the second part of the new Lady Bullseye's story arc so keep in mind that it has strong ties with the previous issue. But even with the plot starting where it left last month, everything read quite nicely and can almost stand on it's own. Writer Ed Brubaker seems to be crafting another strong chapter of the ongoing adventure of Daredevil. But what I appreciated the most is how the events taking place in the Marvel universe were referred to. I don't follow many other Marvel Comics title and even less of their big cross-over events. Everyone seems to know that Elektra was being impersonated by an alien. I did not and I was treated as such with a quick scene where I was put up to date. I felt and understood that something had been going, but I still can read my monthly dose of Daredevil without buying many spin-off series and I enjoy this situation.

With the art, Michael Lark and Stefano Gaudiano continues to bring us a dark, gritty and realistic version of Daredevil just as we like it. Their layout is not very diversified, but this is compensated by dynamic panels and variation in the point of view which help a lot giving big dialogue scenes the impression of action even where there is none. Add to that an always improving colorist since I've been following him and you get one very consistent and interesting issue.

Even if it is the second part of a story arc, you should pick up this issue. This title have been one of the more consistent quality-wise at Marvel Comics in recent years and is furthermore streamlined story-wised. It's never too late or the wrong time to jump in the train on a ride like this.

I rate this issue 8.5 out of 10
