Hello. My name is Hervé St-Louis. Better known as Toon Doctor®, I research usable security, a branch of human-computer interaction. Usable security is about making the devices and apps you use convenient, responsive, and safe.

My second area of expertise is information policy. Information policy explores the realm of information, policy, law, and society as it pertains to various topics such as intellectual property, access to information, surveillance, privacy, information security, freedom of expression (and censorship), internet governance, and more.

I am the founder of ComicBookBin, the largest Canadian comic review and news site founded in 2002. A professional news site, ComicBookBin has always been a hobby for me. However, through this hobby, I have learned much about comics and how to communicate online.

Much of my work at ComicBookBin has influenced my professional life outside of comics. It was part of my life when I launched Toon Doctor®, my animation studio in Montreal. ComicBookBin followed me as I morphed into an information architect in Calgary who went back to school to study cybersecurity and the Green Revolution in Iran

After my master's degree in strategic studies (University of Calgary), I pursued a PhD in information (University of Toronto) where I researched authentication (passwords) on social media platforms.

I am associate professor in emerging media at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC). I am currently accepting graduate students interested in human-computer interaction, information policy, or just plain comics, animation and storyboards. For more information, reach me at UQAC.

Through ComicBookBin, I seek to inform the public about comics and related media and address topics and with a different voice. My focus has always been on you, the reader who buys comics whether you are a casual fan or a dedicated collector.

In 2014, I decided to stop looking on the outside at the comics creation process and to start making my own. My main hobby is drawing comic strips such as Johnny Bullet, a 1970s drag racing adventurer. Johnny Bullet is offered at ComicBookBin in both French and English as a webcomic or a digital comic.

P.S. Being a professor at a university means that I am very busy with research and teaching. Unfortunately I will only respond to messages when necessary. I cannot review nor write about comics as often as I used to.
