The Secret Six go up against the new/old Doom Patrol but don't expect the usual super-matchup. Both teams have problems that prevent them from working AS teams so what results is a chaotic brawl. The Patrol doesn't really have much of a role in this issue and it looks like they were brought in as jobbers, to show how formidable the Six really are. The interaction between the villains is still the highpoint of this title with snappy dialogue from all villainous parties, the Mad Hatter acting disturbingly strange, Knockout and Deadshot getting to know each other and Vandal Savage showing himself to be a worthy adversary for any villain or hero. Simone however seems to be resorting to shock tactics in this issue with sex, nudity and implied cannibalism brought up rather too casually. Perhaps that fits in with the dark outlook that DC has been playing up recently but it can also start to turn people off as they slowly lose sympathy for all the characters, regardless of how witty they are. The art plays up this sordidness, making everyone look grungy and sinister. However some scenes, particularly the fight with the Doom Patrol, are a bit too "muddy" to be easily followed.
