Rated “T” for “Teen”

She has jet black hair, and Sawako Kuronuma has an apparently gloomy attitude, and a sinister smile.  This combination makes her scary … or so her high school classmates think.  They call her “Sadako,” after the haunting horror movie character.  Sadako...err... Sawako is actually a sweet person.  Shota Kazehaya, the most popular boy in school, starts talking to Sawako and her life changes.  Now, they are a couple, getting closer all the time.

As Kimi Ni Todoke: From Me to You, Vol. 28 (Chapters 112 to 115) opens, beloved Kitabhoro High teacher, Mr. Pin Arai, exhorts his students not to catch a cold in this terrible cold weather.  His students need to come back from winter break strong and health in order to study and to take tests, as they begin to prepare to leave high school and move on to college.

Last Christmas, Sawako and Kazehaya spent Christmas with their friends, but now, they would like to spend it together... just the two of them.  When a sudden and brutal storm arrives on New Year's Eve, the two are pushed together in ways that their parents don't want, especially Kazehaya's mother.

THE LOWDOWN:  The Kimi Ni Todoke manga is lovable as well as a really good read.  Sometimes the sparkly and bubbly romance is just what the winter blues doctor ordered.

Kimi Ni Todoke Graphic Novel Volume 28 delves into the lives, loves, and complications concerning the supporting characters.  However, the heart of this drama is the love story of Sawako and Kazehaya.  When creator Karuho Shiina puts them together, she creates magic.  I could read about the star pair all day long.  As I have written before, Shiina continues to make Kimi Ni Todoke a must-read high school romance, one that has moved beyond its original, simplistic conceit.

I READS YOU RECOMMENDS:  Readers looking for the best in high school shojo romance will like the Shojo Beat title, Kimi Ni Todoke: From Me to You.
