Justice League United
’s newest character, Equinox, has been named and given an appearance. Lemire has reportedly done a fair share of firsthand research for the Cree characters, primarily in Northern Ontario. He’ll be on CBC’s The National tonight to discuss the character. More at CBC.

Speaking of Jeff Lemire, his latest project for DC Comics has also been announced. Lemire will write Earth One: Teen Titans with artist Terry Dodson, a graphic novel in the Earth One universe. More at DC Comics.

DC Comics has sent out surveys to their legions of freelance creators about DC’s business practices. Given the company’s wretched history and reputation with many freelance creators, the results will probably be interesting, and kept secret. More at Bleeding Cool.

Bleeding Cool has released its latest "Gendercrunching" article, depressingly highlighting the gender gap in today's comic professionals. More at Bleeding Cool.

Brian Michael Bendis has posted the cover to Uncanny X-Men #23, calling it “probably the most incendiary X-Men story, maybe ever.” The cover reads “The Last Will and Testament of Charles Xavier.” More on Bendis’ Tumblr.

DC Comics has also released the logo for Batman’s 75th anniversary along with some announcements of what various companies have planned to celebrate, from comics to Blu-Ray rereleases. More at DC Comics.

Many fans are eagerly anticipating the return of Jack Bauer in 24: Live Another Day, and they can also add a comic to the list. IDW will be releasing 24: Underground that bridges the gap between the end of the series and this new miniseries. More at the Hollywood Reporter.

Film
The first trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has finally dropped. Besides a general assumption that Michael Bay is directing the film instead of producing it, the film seems to have some humour and great action, if not the wrong voice for Mikey. Watch it below:

Samuel L. Jackson’s role in The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be less than his role in the first film. Jackson revealed he is “not doing much” in the sequel, but what exactly he does remains to be seen. More at Yahoo.

A trailer for the Wachowski’s next film has also dropped. Jupiter Ascending, starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, will be released on August 1 and looks very pretty if not a little predictable. More on Youtube.

Television
Disney and Marvel’s big animated collaboration, Big Hero 6, has named its first cast member. T.J. Miller will play Fred, a wannabe filmmaker. More at Rotoscopers.

Patrick Brennan will be guest starring on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Blackout. His story will involve the recently announced cellist, played by Amy Acker. More at Marvel.
