Blood and Oil: the return of Roy Harper part 2

When DC comics rebirth launched Rebirth they reunited iconic heroes Green Arrow with the Black Canary in this title. In the second story arc they are bringing back another pre-Flashpoint New 52 character Roy Harper.

Roy Harper was Oliver Queens aka the Green Arrows sidekick. Robin to Green Arrows Batman.

In the second issue of his return the comic opens on a gorgeous action panel with Harper and Queen trading quips as they kick button and take names. Or rather Harper takes a swing at Queen insisting he not call him Speedy (a nice little Easter egg and call back. )

This comic really highlights the complicated relationship that has traditionally existed between Green Arrow and Arsenal including a brief flashback to Speeders days as a junkie, a storyline made infamous back in the late seventies early eighties.

Further conflict is provided through further flashbacks wherein Harper and Queen in their heroic personal face off against Vertigo.

DC has again found a great creative team the art in this issue is bold and fluid really complementing a story that is thus far being told with a tight plot and spot on characterization.

Rating: 8.5/10
