JSA: Classified # 16
DC COMICS
WRITER: Steve Englehart
ARTISTS: Tom Derenick, Mark Farmer
COVER: Mike Zeck, Jerry Ordway

The final chapter of a story where Amos Fortune and some old Injustice Society villains force Wildcat to fight it out with the JSA and the surviving members of the JLA-Detroit. This conclusion  is a breezy tale without much weight and if it suffers from anything, it is Englehart's efforts to insert meaning to the story with Vixen, Gypsy and Star-Girl baring their souls while they fight for their lives. The exchanges between villain and hero sound clumsy and the internal monologues of the heroes sounds out of place. The villains of the story prove to be push-overs, which is a major disappointment as well, seeing as how they brought Sportsmaster and the Gambler out of mothballs just to be in this issue. But the art, while simple, is powerful and pleasing to look at. The creative team make the characters, especially the female ones, look very nice indeed, particularly when they are in action. DC may have found an ideal art team to take over WONDER WOMAN or BIRDS OF PREY once the current art team on those books departs.
