The new comedy from director John Hamburg (Along Came Polly), entitled I Love You, Man, examines what is truly means to be a “friend.”

Successful, young, L.A. real estate agent, Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd), has just proposed to the woman of his dream, his fiancée, Zooey Rice (Rashida Jones).  Zooey immediately calls her closest friends to share the news.  Peter discovers, to his dismay and chagrin, that he has no close male friends with which to share the news.  In fact, after years of being the “girlfriend guy” who focused mainly on romantic relationships, he has no male friends at all.

Peter embarks on a quest to make a male friend to whom he can become close enough to serve as his Best Man.  Trying to rectify the situation, he accepts the guidance of his brother Robbie (Andy Samberg), who is gay and seems to know a lot about guys.  Peter embarks on a series of bizarre and awkward “man-dates,” before meeting, quite by accident, Sydney Fife (Jason Segel), with whom Peter instantly bonds.  Sydney is a charismatic bachelor who cruises open-houses for free food and lonely divorcées.

Sydney intrigues Peter, and their burgeoning friendship teaches Peter something he’s never experienced – the true meaning of male bonding.  But the closer the two men get, the more Peter’s relationship with Zooey suffers, ultimately forcing him to choose between his fiancée and his new found “bro.”
