Superman is trapped in the Phantom Zone. Worse yet, the Earth is trapped there with him. And the people of Earth – including the Justice League – are rapidly becoming poisoned by the toxic environment of the Zone. But before he can resolve that issue, he has to get past the dual threats of Rogol Zaar and Jax-Ur.

Thankfully, the JLA isn’t quite down for the count just yet. Atom has a plan, but it will require the Flash to pull it off.

The blending of Ivan Reis, Joe Prado and Oclair Albert’s artwork is remarkably impressive. It has the rich kind of texture that Neal Adams has been known for, and the attention to detail that rivals that of George Pérez.

Superman is currently starring in three DC titles, with three individual storylines running through each. One o hand, I expect a closer knit continuity, but at the same time I appreciate a variety of storylines to appeal to as broad an audience as possible. Something for everyone.

Rating: 8/10
