The DC Nation panel at the NYCC was, as usual, a lively event, spotlighting upcoming titles. Moderated by Dan Didio, executive editor of DC, the panel offered several tantalizing glimpses of future events, an accidental spoiler or two, and all the audience interaction of a game of Simon Says.

  • Gail Simone announced an ongoing Secret Six series, featuring Catman, Deadshot, Scandal, Ragdoll, “an A-list Batman Villain”, and a brand new character who may or may not be called Jeanette.
  • Matt Sturges will be the new writer for Blue Beetle.
  • Grant Morrison’s RIP arc on Batman will be a “culmination of everything I’ve been doing with Batman. It’s got the scariest new version of Joker you’ve ever seen.” He also promised that Dick Grayson would be more present in future issues, though that may have been just an excuse for him to say “You’ll be seeing quite a lot of dick around Batman.”
  • A new Wonder Woman story will feature, according to series writer Gail Simone, “a new Wonder Woman. And he’s a man.” The arc will be entitled “The Olympian”, despite the fact that the audience and Dan Didio all preferred “Manazons.”
  • Grant Morrison has quite a vertical leap.
  • Action Comics will soon feature an arc about Braniac, whom writer Geoff Johns promises to make “scary instead of funny.”

POSSIBLE SPOILER: (highlight to reveal)

  • There will be a publication break between Final Crisis issues 3 and 4, motivated by Flash running one month into the future at the end of issue 3.
