Vixen, Doctor Light, and Gypsy fight against the Detroit Justice League in their new headquarter where the bodies of various dead villains and heroes are gathered. Awakened by the Black Lantern they attack the Justice League and particularly, Doctor Light, Vibe and Commander Steel prove that they were not losers as assumed by most.

James Robinson serves a heated drama where the Leagues brushes off against old members of the Detroit Justice League and the vicious Doctor Light. Here Robinson pulls no punches and uses every hint written or perceived about the characters in this story to show their inner weaknesses. This was quite entertaining, as long time followers of the Justice League will get a kick out of the Detroit Justice League members showing what made them work or rather fail as a team. It’s interesting to observe that most of them are currently dead. It was hard to imagine how the heroes would prevail in this issue, and that kind of story is always inspiring.

Bagley is a great artist capable of rendering any super hero epic dynamically. However, his paired with Rob Hunter who is more in line with an artist like Jim Lee or Ed Benes. Yet, it’s not as distracting or unpleasant. It’s just that Bagley’s work looks better when contained in a power and clear-inked line instead of the sketchy crosspatches of Hunter.

Wonder Woman #602
Great writing, superb art, plenty of action, great use of ancient Greek mythology…but a hyper-violent Princess Diana isn’t so great.
