Review: Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #14

A new dawn for the Green Lantern Corps, and it aint emerald. Well, maybe parts of it, but other parts are yellow – cuz there’s serious talk of teaming up with the Yellow Lanterns. In the more traditional sense, it may seem like a bad idea, but in a way, it makes sense. Yellow Lanterns are fueled by fear, and in a crisis, there is always plenty of that to go around. It doesn’t necessarily have be used for evil.

With John Stewart now in charge of the Green Lanterns Corps, Hal and Kyle Rayner have been given another task by the last two remaining Guardians. I never really took to Kyle. Not because he wasn’t Hal, but because he wasn’t heroic. He always seemed so full of self-doubt, like he didn’t deserve the ring.

I’d hoped that now that he was the White Lantern, he’d settle in more to being worthy. But in these pages I still find him to the doubtful, inexperienced punk kid I remember. It’s tiresome, and I’d like to see him man up like the Lantern he’s supposed to be.

This issue is the start of new story arc, and is a great opportunity to jump on board. It’s not critical to know what’s come before, and with the tiniest bit of thought, it’s possible to dope out the important plot points of the series so far. Now is your chance.
