The Winter Soldier, the former Bucky, sidekick of the late Captain America has found the Red Skull and his gang and wants to avenge the murder of his mentor by the Red Skull. However, taking down the Red Skull won’t be easy, when his daughter and Crossbones stand in the way. Can the Winter Soldier stop them? Elsewhere, the Falcon and the Black Widow unite to take on a enemy they didn’t expect.

It’s a good issue that continues in the same vein of the existing storyline that started after the death of Captain America. Although the plot is well executed here, there is nothing that stands out about this issue that will make one remember it in two years. There is a cliff-hanger ending that alludes to more of the same action, where only small steps are taken every issue. This is not comic book writing padding per se, as genuine bits of information are released. But is it nonetheless a relaxed way of telling a story.

 What I like about this series, is how colourist Frank D’armata creates a colour palette for each scenes making them distinct and well grafted over the impeccable art created by Epting and Perkins. It helps that the storytelling is good making the work of all three artists a cohesive whole. Many Marvel artists should pay attention to the work of this team. It gives Captain America a distinctive look that’s easy to recognize while emphasizing the type of stories Brubaker is trying to tell.
