Fans of "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection" will be excited to hear a complete box set is being released this fall. The movie, which hit theaters in December 2009, was the first big-screen revival of the famous spaceship in 26 years.
The box set will contain a deluxe book featuring model sheets and other key information, a collection of storyboards, a print of an original illustration from the film, and more for a total of 12 items. The products were designed and produced by Enagio Co. under the supervision of the movie's director, Yoshinobu Nishizaki. Distributed by Yamato Books Co., the box set is priced at 50,000 yen ($582) including tax, and will hit stores in late October.

Yamato Crew, the anime's official community website, and Yamato Books' official website started accepting orders on Aug. 4.
The deluxe book includes model sheets of characters and machines in the anime series, the screenplay, background art boards and information on music. The box set also contains storyboards and the script from the latest film.

In addition, another book contains materials dating from 1993 and showing how the production team conceived its initial ideas for the latest film.
A DVD contains test footage of computer-graphic modeling data and demonstrates the movie's production processes. In addition, a CD contains a collection of unpublished background music not included in the original soundtrack.

Packed with printed materials, plus digital anime footage and music, the box set offers fans a comprehensive picture of "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection."
And the set also contains a rich collection of Yamato-related products.
A high-quality A4-size full-color poster of an original illustration of Queen Starsha sets the overall look for the "Yamato" franchise. Also included are high-quality prints of original illustrations drawn by successive production members to be offered.

Moreover, the box set includes a previously unreleased novelization of the animated feature and a T-shirt modeled after the Yamato crew uniform. And for purchasers aged 20 or older, an original sake brew that brings to mind "Yuiga Dokuson," the sake preferred by Sakezo Sado, a popular character on the battleship, is included. And an invitation to a special screening of the director's cut of "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection" is included.

According to Yamato Books, the director's cut version is still in the editing process, but it is sure to be a special version.
The date and venue of the special showing are still to be decided.
In December 2010, a live-action film adaptation of the "Yamato" animated series will hit theaters. It appears the "Yamato" franchise is set to live long and prosper.
