The first issue of the revived FLASH leaves some clues as to who the new speedster will be. Jay Garrick is still operating-- in fact he is the only Flash actually running in this issue. Bart Allen however is now a normal guy, holding down a normal job. There are also 'flashbacks' to Barry Allen, raising hopes that he might come back as well. But the writers want to draw this out for a few more issues so the question of who wears the ring is not answered. There is a sub-plot of some terrorist planning some bombings but this is not resolved either. Instead, we get long lectures on labor relations and Bart's failure to pick up girls. Hopefully, further issues of this book will move faster so we can get a comic that appeals to a wider audience than the die-hard Flash-fans. At least the old fans will be pleased by references to previous continuity. The art can be explosive and exciting but it also looks messy in many panels. That could be a fatal mistake. When you are dealing with a fast-moving character like the Flash where it is important to balance the character's movements with the lay-outs of the pages to help tell the story. What we don't want to see is a jumble of speed-lines cluttering up the page.
