While Tony Stark feeling anguish about the drink he had with the Asgardian dwarves, Pepper Potts, wearing the Rescue armour is battling the Grey Gargoyle in Paris with the Justin Hammer’s granddaughter and her crew of Hammer mechas. However, the Hammer mechas are not interested in cooperating with Potts to battle their common foe. Will divide and conquer give the Grey Gargoyle the victory he seeks?

Every time I think this series is going somewhere, it gets filled with a couple of very slow issues that almost fill filler. The pace is excruciating slow and the story now bores me more than it entertains. Decompress storytelling has to stop. There are but incremental changes between this story and the last one. So there is a new threat related to Asgard that threaten Tony Stark. What else is new? I understand that Fraction has to go through this ridiculous Fear Itself crossover – which I’m not bothering to follow. Once can only take so many crossovers. Some from Marvel Comics, like Civil Wars and the Skrull Invasion did keep my interest, but some are useless and interrupt the pace in a normal comic book series. As Iron Man is now one of the premiere series from Marvel Comics, it has to be caught in all the mess that only serves to slow down a story that’s already very slow.

Larroca serves his usual great imagery in this comic book which is really about nothing right now. If it wasn’t for his work on this series, I probably would have dropped Invincible Iron Man by now. I remember in the 1990s when readers who only bought comic books for the art were criticized. I used to criticize them too. I’ve become my own worse enemy.

Rating: 6 /10
