Trouble # 1

Well if you haven't heard at least something about this book I don't know where you've been. There have been many articles and interviews (and debates about the cover) there have been to advertise it. I mean look, the first book from Marvels new Epic imprint! The story of how Peter Parkers (that's Spider-man by the way) parents and his aunt & uncle hooked up (from what I'm led to believe). This has to be good doesn't it!?!

Mark Millar on the rub, you can't go wrong can you……….? Well, I'd have to say no. This was a nice opening chapter to this (epic) story. The dialogue was easy going, flowed nicely and gave you a feel for the characters and story. It wasn't the most amazing thing I've ever read, but it was solid. The purpose was served, the characters were introduced and a foundation was set (more than I can say for some comics this week). It reminded me of one of those old eighties films, like "Pretty in Pink." Which to me is a good jump off.

To be honest, I've never heard of Terry or Rachel Dodson before this, but I am impressed. When an art team is in tandem with a writer, you can truly get drawn into a story. The art in this book really helps set the feel & mood. It doesn't look like Ultimates or Y – the last man, or any of the other new books out there. This book had an old school feel to it that really heightened the overall story. I have to say, without the art the book may have lost some of its appeal.

Hopefully this book just keeps on building on what's been laid, and if so, I've got high hopes. So whatever you've heard I recommend picking it up. Hey, it's only 5 issues and it's always good to have some variety in your reading.

Report Card – B (A solid read. Not the greatest thing out there, but definitely not the worse. I'd say above average)
