FLASH # 210

"Did you know more red cars get pulled over for speeding than any other color?" asks Nightwing. Perhaps this explains why the red-clad Flash has a dizzying amount of enemies, many of whom are showcased in "Reconnected" by Geoff Johns and Howard Porter. Here, Flash continues to restore his personal relationships, and his enemies continue to organize under a united criminal mission.
A character-based issue, "Reconnected" features hilarious flashbacks of the Flash's early exposure to the Justice League-where Batman catches the startled young Flash calling him a lunatic, and where Wonder Woman discovers Flash kicking into speed-mode so he can ogle her without being caught; or so he thought. There's also a fast battle with the Penguin and a few rogues; but this doesn't last long. And though Flash is particularly charming in this issue, there's very little story. Lately, it feels that Johns has been relying too heavily on the strength of his character to carry this series.
The art by Porter is well-detailed and efficient in story-telling. The issue is clean and clear. However, during the flashback scenes, it's a little difficult to gauge the age of the Flash and Nightwing. Conveying age, evidently, isn't Porter's strongest point. Still, the art captures the ever-playful youthfulness of the Flash, and does a great job in featuring the various costumes and powers of the many rogues.
