By Dominic Carr

This Trade paperback collects the First 7 issues of Mark Waid’s and Mike Weiringo’s (With Mark Buckingham) Stellar run on the Fantastic Four as well as a thing solo tale by current FF Inker Karl Kesel.

Waid and Weiringo start of their Run by Re/Introducing us to the FF as well as doing a spot of Reinventing and By the end of the first issue They had managed to make me see the FF in a whole new light. Waid makes them seem cool and likeable to me for the first time ever. This is a theme that is continued through their next hilarious Issue (In which the Thing goes on a bit of a rampage) and into their first major arc “Sentient”.

In sentient the sum of Reed’s thoughts and reflections (with a little help from Franklin) Becomes sentient and starts a crusade to make reed “love” him By “Subtracting” all he holds dear, This arc is by far the highlight of this trade and really showcases Reeds intellect and firmly places him in my mind as the Smartest Man in the MU.

The next arc “Small stuff”. Is a really fun arc (which grows Johnny up a bit) in which the art is Handled By Mark (Peter Parker: Spider-man) Buckingham, throughout this arc the reader really gets a sense of fun and grows closer to the characters in the story (the stuff with Ben and Reed is Hilarious). With this trade Waid, Weiringo and Buckingham have Reinvented The FF for a whole new generation of fans.

I could not end this review without mentioning my enjoyment of the back up story By Karl Kesel Which shows for the first Time the Things Jewish heritage.

Overall A+
