In the second issue of the second alien invasion we find out more about Miles, the average Earth man who survived the first alien invasion. New pods are arriving on Earth but the population doesn’t know whether they are dangerous as the past ones or affected by Earth-based microbes. Society is still on the brink and people have to adjust. However, the second wave is starting and odds are the tripods will make more victims.

Framing the invasion from the point of view of one average man is a great device. Trough this second tale, we find out more about his failed relationship with his wife. I’m just hoping they won’t reveal Miles used to be experimented upon by the aliens as this would give too good an excuse as to why he’s so withdrawn. This series is really standing out from the crowd of War of The Words’ comics. It’s going toward the territory of V where we watch how humans cope with invaders. Quite refreshing.

The art is good. This time, the colouring was all unsaturated into black and white. While it doesn’t affect the story, is this a move to cut costs by the publisher? If it allows the series to survive at a lower production price, then it’s a good decision. The artwork and the colouring have enough mood to capture the essence of the tale. It’s also a good gimmick for colour-blind readers!
