Rated “T” for “Teen”

High school student, Takeo Goda, is a giant guy with a giant heart.  He isn't the most attractive fellow, and the girls at the school he attends, Shuei High School, won't have anything to do with him.  Then, Takeo meets Rinko Yamato, from Koizumi Girls Academy, after saving her from a harasser on the train.  Yamato falls in love with Takeo and changes his life.  Takeo's long-time friend, Makoto Sunakawa, tags along for fun.

As My Love Story!!, Vol. 10 (Chapters 35 to 38) opens, Takeo worries that he will lose Yamato, although Sunakawa tries to assure him that he has nothing to worry about.  Yamato took a summer job at the pastry shop, “Les Cerises.”  Koki Ichinose, a young pastry chef there, has fallen in love with Yamato and thinks of her as his muse.  Ichinose told Takeo that if he wins a prestigious pastry competition, he will then declare his love to Yamato.  When Ichinose runs into a big problem just before the competition, he will need Yamato AND Takeo to save his day.

THE LOWDOWN:  The My Love Story!! manga is something special.  When I first read it, I thought that it had potential, and I liked it.  But I did not love it deep in my reader's heart.  Creators Kazune Kawahara (writer) and Aruko (artist) worked some kind of magic, and now, I am a huge fan.

My Love Story!! Volume 10 is simply a superb individual volume.  I think that it is a excellent jumping on point for new readers simply because, in Vol. 10, Kawahara and Aruko offer some of their very best work.  This series has such a simple concept and is easy to understand, so just about any volume can be a jumping-on point.  Jump in and let the magic work on you.

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  Readers looking for sweet love stories that are a bit different will want to try the Shojo Beat title, My Love Story!!

A+
