Harry Johnson #2 concludes the first ever series featuring the adventures of the world’s zaniest unclouth sleuth. Following the kidnapping of his assistant, the beautiful Fanny Sellers, Harry and his friend Buck end up in Germany to rescue the girl from the clutches of General Butplugge – read Butt Plug. More wackiness occurs as the Nazis try to steal a super female soldier formula.
Harry Johnson is consistently funny and irreverent as it spoofs many genres, such as Indiana Jones, spy thrillers and more. Fulp continues to add timely inside jokes to complement the plot. He introduces a lot more characters in this issue. Although they don’t get much coverage, we can still understand their basic role. Too bad he didn’t expend on the little Nazi spy guy.
The artwork is continuously satisfying. Harry Johnson is a great visual package. While all women in this comic book are of the big breast type, it’s quite easy to tell each of them apart. The caricatures done for the various Germans are fun. The final pages of the book contain a sketch book of many characters done by Dean Yeagle. It’s a great bonus for fans of the series!
