Harry Johnson #1

Harry Johnson is a great comic book series by Fulp Fiction, a small publisher named after creator Charles Fulp. It’s the story of pervert private eye Johnson, who specializes in cases involving women and their anatomy. In this story, an alluring blond babe hires the detective to find her long gone geeky scientist father. Harry hires a stripper as a side kick and proceeds with the case.

The story spoofs cliché detective stories from the 1930s while inserting a large dose of sexual puns. Most situations have double meanings making this comic book very fun to read. I was cracking up the entire time. Although full of blossoming breasts, Harry Johnson remains light hearted and suitable for younger audiences. Still, the warning on the cover suggests a PG- 13.

The characters’ designs are from Dean Yeagle, a well known animation character designer known for his cute and sensual cartoon women. The artwork by Rousseau and Lee follows the models perfectly. Lee adds a sure touch in the inking of the artwork, making it more suitable for comics than Yeagle’s thin line cartoon designs. Rousseau is very creative with his storytelling.
