Amour, Approbation Comics’ romance anthology series, makes its return, and Amour #4 offers three tales about long term relationships.

In “Relationship Emergencies,” a young highway trooper learns to appreciate what he has when he helps another couple facing a medical crisis.  In “Alice’s Wonderland,” a graphic artist recounts how his wacky first encounter with the spirited Brit who changed his life was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.  To close out this issue, the story “Time Out” presents a young man who uses a day away from the grind of work to spring a shocker in the snow on his girlfriend.

THE LOWDOWN:  Three playful tales and crisp, sparkling dialogue are nothing new to this series.  Since Amour’s inception, writer/creator Bart A. Thompson has been using snappy dialogue to create both appealing characters and engaging stories.  What continues to improve is Ezequiel Pineda as an artist.  He was already good with storytelling and with building environments/backgrounds.  His figure drawing keeps getting better, and his characters seem more natural and at ease, making the romance even better.

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  Fans of love stories like the film When Harry Met Sally will like this issue in particular.
