This new collection continues the adventures of Eli Shane and his gang in the world of SlugTerra with new parts of the underworld explored and a new main character that will affect our hero’s life thereafter. But is the new character called Twist, who looks like a blond Eli with similar skills a friend or foe?

The Shane Gang meets new allies such as Mario Bravado who teaches Eli to shoot slugs better than before. There is also a new underworld sea where fish-like creatures chase the Shane Gang on a pirate ship. However, the best part of this new DVD collection is the two-part episode about Twist. Twist has skills that match roughly Eli’s but also a few secrets of his own. These episodes add to the ongoing story with Doctor Blakk.

I’m a bit annoyed at the running cycles used in this series. It feels like the characters are floating. I realized that I’ve made that comment in past reviews but it really is annoying. But this series’ character designs are still really good and diversified compared to similar 3D animated series from other studios.  This series has really grown on me since I started watching it. Sure, it uses the standard shooter/pet animal format that has been popularized since Pokémon. However, this series does it differently with a large cast and better animation. The slugs are also super cute. One thing I’d like to know more of is about the new slugs with unique powers that seem to pop out often in this series without backstories.
