Allen has decided to release the deadly scourge virus on Earth to eliminate the hidden Viltrumite refugees. It’s up to Invincible’s dad, Omni-Man to put a stop to this. However, the fight soon involves Oliver, Omni-Man’s younger son. Will the two of them be capable of stopping Allen’s plan or will one of them betray the other first?

The Viltrumite war was one of the highlights of this series and I’m glad to see that there are more ramifications to it. It’s not over yet. The decision Allen has to make is important and the conflict of morals he has with Omni-Man is well depicted. Although each hurt each other, they are still friends and show some kind of restraint. I really like Oliver’s characterization here. Being younger, he doesn’t share the high morals of the elders and his change of opinions mid-way through the fight is surprising, although it had been foreshadowed in previous issues.

Cory Walker continues to art shores on the series after Ryan Ottley’s departure. Although the characters look very much the same, he doesn’t do gory fights as well and as bloody as Ottley. Yet the storytelling in this series is solid and following the action, never a problem. I’d like to see Walker’s work under another inker. I have a feeling it would be more appealing.
