Invincible gets a new arch villain who blames him for the death of his sister. But while attempting to take his revenge on Invincible, Powerplex destroys more of his world than he bargained for. What will the consequences be for Invincible and his new foe?

This was an interesting story that builds up new villain, giving him a strong motivation to go after Invincible and exact his vengeance. There was even a lot of humour in this issue. There was so much that I didn’t really take the support of Powerplex’s wife seriously. She felt like a laidback nurse trying to medicate her husband instead of someone genuinely interested in his mission. But the twist of fate at the climax of the story was totally unexpected and perhaps diminished because of the lack of seriousness of Powerplex’s wife in the early part of the comic book.

I like Ryan Ottley’s work. He’s defined Invincible for this reader and adds a good super hero but lightness to the work that makes it pleasant. In hindsight, I’m not sure if his work would fit in another series that was not about a young idealistic hero, like Johnny Rocket or Spider-man.
