On the surface, the character has a lot of personal trouble and anguish in his life. This issue, however, not much was visible. There were many subplots about future threats and a sense of soap opera storytelling whereby if you miss one issue, you pretty much miss a chunk of stories about the character’s life. Nevertheless, it was all easy to place and maybe that’s the problem with Invincible. Any episode could be exchange and not much would really matter.
The story and the characters are still interesting, but beyond the break point in issue #50, I don’t feel that much has happened, although I’ve skipped many issues.
Visually this series continues to be strong, with clear storytelling and engaging sets. Many comic book artists should start studying Ottley’s work and aptitude to deliver a monthly series.
