The Birds of Prey’s blackmail continues and Hawk is quickly defeated in a fight. The identity of the real blackmailers is revealed but it’s up to Black Canary to put an end to all the killings by defeating the White Canary. Can she defeat a Lady Shiva-level martial artist? This is always a joy to read this series. Simone knows exactly what button to push to illicit a positive reaction. I just love how she handles Oracle, the Huntress and Black Canary. No other writer should eve write about them or change them without her vetoing it. She just treats them with respects. She also is big on the whole martial arts angle and who is a good fighter or not. It’s a downer that Benes could not finish the issue due to personal problems. He’s the definitive artist for this series. Melo is not a bad artist, although she draws characters’ eyes as big as in manga and gives them impossible curly and long flock of hairs.
