The supervillains have seemingly turned altruistic but behind the scenes, the Justice League are being taken out one by one. In this issue, the good guys start regaining ground with Captain Marvel, the Atom and Wonder Woman looking very good as they rescue the other heroes or beat back the villains. The story seems a bit extravagant, spending so much time on individual heroes like the Atom or Green Lantern but as this is only part 6 of a 12-part series, the creators apparently can get away with it. There is an oddness at seeing Jean Loring depicted so sympathetically, making it clear to long-time readers that this is some alternate DC continuity. The art, while not up to "Kingdom Come" levels, has a certain power to it, regardless of whether we are seeing the heart of the sun or the depths of a cave. Some of the dialogue is a bit stiff however. And did we really need a scene of the Batman telling Alfred to shut up?
