J-POP SUMMIT 2016 ANNOUNCES UNIQUE ARTIST MEET & GREET AND AUTOGRAPH OPPORTUNITIES FOR ATTENDING FANS

The San Francisco Bay Area’s Premiere Japanese Pop Culture Event Offers The Fan Experience With Options To Meet This Year’s Dynamic Roster Of Artists And Performers For Autographs And Photo Sessions

J-POP SUMMIT 2016, one of the world’s biggest Japanese pop culture events, has detailed an exciting array of Guest of Honor Meet & Greet sessions and unique autograph and/or photo opportunities to take place at this year’s festival.

J-POP SUMMIT 2016 will take place Saturday and Sunday, July 23rd and 24th at the historic Fort Mason Center located in San Francisco’s Marina district. Full festival details are available at: J-POP.com.

A variety of affordable ticket options and V.I.P packages will give attendees the maximum amount of flexibility to customize a memorable J-POP SUMMIT 2016 experience. This year’s J-POP SUMMIT will feature live concert performances by the electronic dance group, WORLD ORDER, all-female pop rock band, Silent Siren, pop house unit, Wednesday Campanella, idol dance troupe, Tokyo Performance Doll, kimono cosplay duo, YANAKIKU, and the ani-pop duo, GARNiDELiA.

Additional notable Guests of Honor include the popular illustrator Kaori Wakamatsu, the visual pop artist Hiroyuki-Mitsume Takahashi, and artist Ken Hamazaki a.k.a. “The Red Man,” Japan’s drag royalty and singer, Mitz Mangrove, and Japan’s favorite Go-Torch Characters. Also, NHK WORLD, an international broadcasting service and one of J-POP SUMMIT 2016’s sponsors, will host events at its NHK WORLD Booth. These events include cooking demonstrations with Dining with the Chef TV personalities, Chef Saito and host Yu Hayami, as well as pop culture provocateur, Sebastian Masuda, and the iconic Japanese character mascot, Domo.

J-POP SUMMIT VIP pass holders will be permitted to attend a special artist Meet & Greet to take place in the J-POP SUMMT VIP Lounge. Attendees will be able to meet the following artists for personal photos and autographs:

General ticket holders also are invited to meet additional performing artists and featured Guests of Honor as part of the J-POP SUMMIT “Fan Experience.”  These sessions will take place at the Kinokuniya Fandom Booth and also at the PROMIC.TV booth located in the main exhibit hall at Fort Mason Festival Pavilion. Wednesday Campanella

Sessions: 7:10pm – 7:40pm (Sat), 3:00pm – 5:00pm (Sun)

Requirement: Purchase any Wednesday Campanella merchandise at the Kinokuniya booth to receive a ticket to the autograph session.  Space is limited to 30 people on Saturday and 120 people on Sunday.

Tokyo Performance Doll
Sun. July 24th
Sessions: 12:30pm - 1:10pm
Where: PROMIC.TV Booth

Requirement: Purchase the TPD CD at Kinokuniya booth to receive a ticket to their photo session! Space is limited to the first 100 people.

Kaori Wakamatsu
Sat. July 23rd & Sun. July 24th
Sessions: 12:00pm, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm (both days)
Where: Kinokuniya Fandom Booth

Requirement: Attendees must purchase Kaori Wakamatsu related items worth at least $20 or a Kinokuniya Gift Card worth at least $20 at the Kinokuniya Booth. The first 200 customers will receive a ticket to Kaori Wakamatsu’s autograph session! She will draw an illustration and sign on it right in front of you. Ticket buyers may select specific time slots at the time of purchase. Sessions are limited to 25 people per slot.

Hiroyuki-Mitsume Takahashi

Where: Hiroyuki-Mitsume Takahashi Booth

Come to the booth of illustrator/performance artist Hiroyuki-Mitsume Takahashi to check out exclusive merchandise and get an autograph. Win tickets to a pop-up gallery and live-painting event where he will be performing during his visit to San Francisco.

Ken Hamazaki

Sessions: 12:00pm, 2:00pm, 4:00pm (both days)
Where: Near the Iichiko Booth and ITO EN Booth (located both inside and outside of the pavilion)

The world’s reddest man Ken Hamazaki is coming back to J-POP SUMMIT to serve you a special blend of tea. Join the legendary “Red Tea Ceremony” in special collaboration with Japan’s best-selling genuine Shochu company, Iichiko and the most popular tea brand, ITO EN.

Mitz Mangrove
When: Sun. July 24th
Session: 6:15pm to 6:45pm

Requirement: No purchase necessary. Photo and autograph sessions will be held immediately following the “J-POP QUEEN” Drag Contest on the festival Main Stage.

Go-Torch Characters
Sat. July 23rd & Sun. July 24th
Where: J-POP Photo Booth at Welcome Area
Go-Torch Characters will greet and take photos with attendees at J-POP Photo Booth at the Welcome Area near the entrance of Festival Pavilion all day. Appearing Go-Torch Characters will include: Paper Bag Fairies (Sana Sena Bona), Zombear, Koakkuma & Akkuma, Umebara Hibari, and AsakuSamurai.

YANAKIKU
When: Sat. July 23rd & Sun. July 24th
Sessions: All-day
Where: Iichiko Booth

YANAKIKU will be at the Iichiko Booth as official “Iichiko ambassadors” on both days! Take a photo with them in a special “Iichiko pose” and get their autograph by purchasing Iichiko drinks or official YANAKIKU merchandise.

NHK WORLD Guests of Honor:

Tokyo Performance Doll and Domo - “Tokyo Performance Domo”

Domo (NHK WORLD’s official mascot) and the J-POP idol group, Tokyo Performance Doll (TPD), will greet fans at the NHK WORLD Booth as “Tokyo Performance Domo,” a special collaboration group that performs “Domobics,” an aerobic-exercise and dance, to open the festival on both days.

Domo Photo Opportunity

Pose with NHK WORLD’s mascot Domo in front of a magnificent backdrop of the city of Tokyo. Domo will appear several times a day.

Chef Tatsuo Saito & Yu Hayami
When: Sat. July 23rd & Sun. July 24th
Sessions: Sat. 3:45pm – 4:30pm; Sun. 12:30pm – 1:15pm
Where: NHK WORLD Booth

Chef Tatsuo Saito and Yu Hayami, the TV personalities of “Dining with the Chef,” will host a live cooking demo. They will demonstrate how to prepare a Japanese popular dish in a super-easy way for everyday home cooking. They will also introduce, “JAPANESE FOOD,” NHK WORLD’s new culinary culture website which launched on June 20.

Sebastian Masuda
When: Sat. July 23rd
Sessions: 2:30pm - 3:30pm
Where: NHK WORLD Booth

Sebastian Masuda, art director of Kawaii International, NHK WORLD’s pop culture program that explores everything from Tokyo street fashion to art and design, will welcome visitors to his TIME AFTER TIME CAPSULE workshop which includes an interactive art installation in the shape of Domo at the NHK WORLD Booth. Drop by to add something personal to the time capsule.
