Jeremiah Harm #1 Boom Studios Writers: Keith Giffen, Alan Grant Art: Rael Lyra
Dangerous aliens have escaped a maximum security unit in space, and it’s up to Jeremiah Harm, the enforcer who brought them in the last time to do the job again. The problem is that the last time he captured them, he was also jailed because he of that. What will the space authorities have to offer him in order to make him hunt the villains again?
This is a straightforward story that reminds me a lot of Wake: Artifice/Maximum Insecurity. It’s the usual anti hero who shoots first and is tough as nail. So far, although the story is good, there is not much spark to differentiate it from other series that are quite similar. There’s nothing to make one care about the hero yet. The break out scene is very confusing at first as there seems to be characters that can change their shapes.
The artwork gives a nice European feel to this comic book. It’s all gritty and the alien’s designs work well with the artist’s style. I’m not sure if Giffen had a chance to draw the layouts of this series, as he often does for his artists, because the storytelling is not clear and confusing. This series has a strong colour palette. I like that.
