Green Arrow #46

The new art team of Fowler and Ramos make their debut on GREEN ARROW as the new Speedy makes her debut among the Teen Titans. Why induct her into the Titans just one issue after she dons the costume? That isn't quite clear. Mia-- the new female Speedy-- is shown defeating some minor super-villain named High-Rise but other than that, her entry into the world of superheroing still seems forced. Oh, did we mention she was HIV-positive? Well, she apparently forgets to mention it to her new Titan buddies-- after making a big issue about her HIV status just two months ago. Mia's evolution as a superhero still isn't convincing enough and the way Ollie is pushing her along just doesn't seem in character. The new art team also takes a lot of getting used to. Their human figures and facial expressions show the influence of Wrightson and Pini-- and seem more suited for a fantasy title than what is supposed to be a gritty urban drama. Hopefully they will grow into their new roles as Arrow-artists with more ease than Mia is growing into her new role as a teen sidekick.
