Wonder Woman interrogates the terrorists who attacked the mall she was in with her friends. In this retelling of her origin, she starts using her powers for the first time. Meanwhile, a god angry with the Amazon princess descends on Earth and attack her. Will Wonder Woman survive the wrath of Ares?

I like the year one and contemporary take on Wonder Woman very much. Nicola Scott is a great artist and has made me love Wonder Woman more than I ever did. I get a thrill to marvel at her work every issue. Her Wonder Woman is gentle, naïve, and beautiful. She still looks strong but without losing any of femininity. Her other characters, such as Steve Trevor and Etta Candy are also gorgeous.

I’m glad that Greg Rucka is a feminist writer. Wonder Woman is written in a smart way that will please anyone who cares about social justice and those who do not. She does not preach. She is still innocent. But she is inspiring and caring. This year one storyline has to be one of the best rendition of Wonder Woman’s origin ever written.

Rating: 10 /10
