The Flash #30

Barry Allen loses his calm and almost gets fired from his job. But through his colleague Kristen, he finds out who Bloodwork is and inadvertently charges the villain’s blood controlling powers. Is it the end for the Flash?

This issue seemed classic in every way. We have Barry Allen being responsible for creating a villain with his crazy powers and a lot of personal anguish about his life which ends up messing up everything. One would think that we are reading a Spider-man comic, as there is so much that he keeps screwing up. It feels a bit weird to read about a Flash who jut cannot get a break and has forgotten to smile and be happy. But this is the Flash that Joshua Williamson is writing these days. This is not a complaint, just a realization that this is the way Williamson has decided to characterize the life of Barry Allen.

Neil Googe was a welcomed change from previous artists who deformed the shapes and the forms of characters so much. But Googe’s characters are anorexic! They are very skinny and in the case of the Flash, does not show the heroic stance and body that would make us believe that he is not just a runner, but a supper hero.
