We talked quite a bit about the Marvel NOW! teasers that were released last week, and now Marvel is confirming the teasers. Here's what we know for certain so far:
Invincible Iron Man by Kieron Gillen and Greg Land
Thor: God of Thunder by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic
Indestructible Hulk by Mark Waid and Leinil Yu
We can probably expect more confirmations throughout the week.
Film and Television:
During a conference call yesterday, Marvel announced, despite the director's initial reluctance, Joss Whedon has signed on to helm Avengers 2, the sequel to the highest grossing film of all time. After directing the first Avengers film, Whedon had stated that in the end he felt as though he'd put in an awful lot of effort just to see someone else's proprietary work translated to the big screen. Marvel is notoriously (and relatively) stingy when it comes to directors as well, but maybe Marvel sweetened the pot with their new ABC television show, which we reported on here, which Whedon is now in talks to produce! Avengers 2 has a tentative release slated for 2015.
We'd reported that the Fantastic Four film franchise might being coming back to Marvel Studios in exchange for an extension of Fox's Daredevil license, but Deadline has some reports from Hollywood insiders that see things differently. Even with The Grey's director, Joe Carnahan, signed on to reboot Daredevil, Fox isn't exactly keen on the franchise any longer and wouldn't be opposed to letting the property slip back into Marvel's purview.
It's ComicBookBin's Ten Year Anniversary! Thank you for humoring us this week as we celebrate ten years of pop-culture punditry. I understand the "Who's Who" segments have been taking up quite a bit of our front page and are making things somewhat confusing. Remember, there's a navigation menu at the top of the page for PC and tablet users. Utilize that menu to navigate to our Reviews, Interviews, News, and much more. Things will be back to normal starting tomorrow. Thanks for hanging in there with us!
