New Mutants #08
By Leroy Douresseau
March 28, 2004 - 08:15
The mutant teen drama that is NEW MUTANTS would be a lot more potent
and entertaining if the artists on the books weren't so…OK, maybe bad
isn't the right word. They
do
need lessons in draftsmanship at the very least, especially as the two
pencilers' art pales next to Chris Bachalo's beautiful cover art
(especially for issue eight).
Carlo Barberi's pencils look
as if they were done by an untrained version of Humberto Ramos trying
to do J. Scott Campbell. There's hope for him, as he shows some talent,
and I imagine that the art for this issue was done under extreme
deadline pressures. Still, at 2.99 a pop…

READABLE, PRETTY GOOD, EXCELLENT]
