The new Green Lanterns recruited by Hal Jordan investigate their first alien-on-Earth case alone. But the Arizona local authorities do not trust them and fear that they are too inexperienced. Federal agents do not trust them either and want them out. Even the recruits, Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz do not trust one another. What could be worse? Oh yeah, the Red Lanterns are back and ready to take on the new Green Lanterns!

This issue was written for people who have not been reading Green Lantern in a while and that was a good thing. I heard of Simon Baz but never read anything with him. As for Jessica Cruz, I have no idea about who she is but like that unlike other Green Lanterns of the past, she does not appear to be fearless! She is afraid of everything! The rebellious Muslim Green Lantern working with the fearful Latina recruit created an interesting dynamic. See world, diversity is not always a bad thing!

I liked Robson Rocha’s artwork. It’s not special but solid. His figure have that early Image Comic rage thing but with better anatomy! He’s also a decent storyteller. The colours were a bit too bright and muffled the artwork in places though. It was often difficult to quickly differentiate Green energy from the figures or the refracted light from props and surrounding characters.
