It’s the final showdown between the Katos, the Green Hornet and the Black Hornet. After discovering the hidden abilities of the Black Beauty, Kato and Green Hornet take the fight to the Black Hornet’s hideout and confront him once and for all. Will they finally defeat the fiend?

I will say this, the way Green Hornet defeated the Black Hornet was priceless. It was pure Kevin Smith and quite funny. I like the slight humour he brought this issue. I did find the hidden hornet plane inside the Black Beauty was over the top but after the giant typewriter booby trap last issue, it doesn’t matter. This storyline really felt that it was plotted for a film, which it was. It makes me wonder how different will this series be from the upcoming movie. The plot is similar. A young dilettante becomes the Green Hornet, hilarity ensues. Smith’s story was okay, but not very engaging. I still don’t care about this Green Hornet. He still doesn’t feel he can fill the shoes of his father either.

Lau is good here with, although the first few pages with the missiles and the transformation of the Black Beauty into a hornet jet were incomprehensible. The other pages were much clearer and easier to read. Hester who did the breakdowns is usually good at storytelling and may have helped with that a lot. There’s a manga feel to this comic book series, and it feels odd because Green Hornet feels more like crime noir.
