Review: Green Arrow #11

All Amin Mustafa wanted was to broker greater cooperation between the United States and assorted Middle Eastern nations. But Eddie Fyres assassinated him, and his now attempting to make his escape. Rest assured, Green Arrow, Black Canary and John Diggle aren’t about to let that happen. But how does one escape from a train traveling at high speed through a tunnel at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean?

If this were Aquaman or another super-powered Justice Leaguer, I’d say, “No problem.” But on the power scale, Green Arrow is near the bottom. That doesn’t make him any less loveable, but there is only so much he and his trick arrows can accomplish.

The whole issue is a bit of a chase story, with anxiety levels running pretty high. I enjoyed it, and won’t spoil the ending for you. Safe to say it does end, and suggests next issue will lead into a new story arc. Most of the Green Arrow stories so far have been somewhat brief, which I appreciate. I generally don’t appreciate lengthy, padded story arcs.

My only complaint comes from a depiction found toward the end of the story. A dignitary is shown who bears a strong resemblance to Hillary Clinton. Love her or hate her, I question the presence of such a polarizing figure. I prefer my comic books maintain a more neutral position, politically speaking, and would have preferred a more generic appearing character, especially in regards to this extremely contentious election cycle.
